[Book 9] Haunted Ocean by Kenneth Robeson (1936)

February 15, 2009

A mysterious atmospheric condition over the north Atlantic seems to affect radio transmissions and remote sensing devices.  Investigating the phenomenon on behalf of no less than the President of the United States, Doc Savage uncovers a massive plot to disarm the nations of the world by someone who calls himself the Man of Peace.

Alas, Haunted Ocean is one of the lesser Doc Savage hero-pulp stories (it was ghost written by Lawrence Donovan instead of the much better pulp-writer, Lester Dent). Unless you a die-hard fan of the series, I would give this one a pass.  The only saving grace is that there’s parts of the clumsily executed plot worth stealing for someone interested who is interested running a pulp RPG campaign.
